Welcome to this course. This course focuses on issues of the teaching and learning of mathematics. What does it mean to understand a mathematical idea?  This module will focus on contemporary issues in mathematics education such as: types of mathematical knowledge in teacher education; learning theories in mathematics education; use of technology in the teaching of mathematics; classroom effectiveness. Mathematics in context: prospects and challenges.
